Bridge connecting to Mafi Atitekpo and Aklamador in Central Tongu District washed away by floods, Residents calls on the Government for urgent intervention
A Bridge connecting to Mafi Atitekpo and Aklamador in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region has been washed away following heavy flooding in the area.
Speaking to GF ICON, the Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Rockson Dzisenu, disclosed that several efforts to have the bridge repaired have proven unsuccessful despite formally reporting the issue to the Municipal District Chief Executive (MDCE).
According to him, the MCE indicated that the rehabilitation of the bridge was beyond the Assembly’s capacity and promised to forward the matter to the Regional authorities. However, no positive response or action has been taken so far.
Residents are therefore appealing to the Government and the Minister for Roads and Highways to urgently intervene, as the damaged bridge has become a serious danger to motorists and other road users.
